Last July I fell in love with something that has totally changed my life! It is called running. Ok, you are probably thinking, “How Boring” right but stay with me here. Running has become such a passion that I even co-founded a running website in Utah called UtahRunning.com which is a great community for runners. That is not the reason I am writing this article but I just wanted to show my passion for this sport.

You need to know something about my running, I am very slow. Being slow doesn’t bother me though it just shows that I have a lot of room for improvement. I started out running simple 5k races and then eventually upgraded to running 10k races. Running became a great way to relieve stress and get exercise.

Last year in October I took a trip with my Wife and litter girl to St. George Utah to check out the St. George Marathon. This was such a spiritual experience watching the runners cross the finish line after running 26.2 miles that I decided right then and there that I wanted to run a marathon. Little did I know it included tons of training to get ready.

I then decided to get a coach to teach, train and get me ready for the 2010 Ogden Utah Marathon on May 15, 2010. Janae Richardson became my running coach the training started. The training was a great experience, Janae really helped me know what to do, how, and when. I recommend to anyone Janae if you live in Utah and really just recommend getting a coach to help you.

So now to My First Marathon! IT WAS THE HARDEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE. With that being said it was the most amazing thing I have ever done as well. I finished the race in 5 hours, which for my first marathon it just made me happy to finish.

What made the marathon so amazing was I ran it with a purpose. I ran it for myself, my wife and little girl, and especially for my sister-in-law Amy that has cancer. I believe this made all the difference in my training and in finishing the race.

My family and friends were at the finish line that made me so happy. I was sore, extremely tired and ready to die, but seeing my family there at the end made all the training and pain worth it!

So will I ever run my second marathon? You better believe it!

Some partners and I recently launched a new website called UtahRunning.com! We are really excited for this new website that helps runners in Utah find information on running races like Utah Marathons, 5k, 10k and other types of races.

We also have an expert panel that posts tons of great content for runners on our Utah Running Blog.

Running is of the most focused physical activities that you could ever take on. It not only challenges your body but also your mind and your will. The ability to concentrate and find a rhythm in putting one step in front of the other is what running is all about. While to some runners Utah running races are about winning, to others they are about the accomplishment of finishing the race. If you are a runner, then Utah is the place you should be headed for the Utah running races.

So I just wanted to share with all my readers the new website even if you don’t live in Utah the UtahRunning.com website has a lot of great features. Utah Running is a passion of mine and I love sharing my passion with others.
